Care and Maintenance

Proper care will help preserve the Hudson Bay’s cedar interior and keep the sauna operating reliably over time.

  • Always turn off, unplug, and allow the sauna to cool completely before cleaning or performing maintenance.
  • Before first use, wipe down the interior surfaces with a damp cloth. HeatWave also recommends running the sauna at 104°F for one hour to help burn off any factory dust. 
  • Clean the interior wood with a damp cloth only. Do not use chemicals, abrasive cleaners, or solvents on the unfinished wood. 
  • Use towels on the bench and floor during sessions to help absorb perspiration and keep the interior cleaner. 
  • Keep heater areas clear and never spray water directly onto the heating elements. 
  • The exterior may be maintained with furniture polish or furniture oil as recommended by the manufacturer. 
  • Natural variations in cedar color, grain, knots, minor cracks, expansion, contraction, and gradual darkening are normal characteristics of real wood and should not be considered defects. 
  • Periodically check panel connections, controls, lighting, vents, accessories, and other components to make sure everything remains secure and in good working order.
  • Follow the owner’s manual for troubleshooting, maintenance, or replacement-part procedures. Unauthorized electrical repairs or modifications can void the warranty.
